Tentative Itinerary
Start early from Delhi to make the most of your day exploring Haridwar and Rishikesh; two sacred gems of Uttarakhand. Drive to Haridwar (approx. 4-5 hours), the “Gateway to God,” and take a holy dip at Har Ki Pauri. Visit prominent temples and feel the spiritual energy of this sacred city.
Continue your journey with a short drive to Rishikesh (around 1 hour). Check in to your pre-booked hotel and head out for a walking tour covering Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, and renowned ashrams like Parmarth Niketan and Sivananda Ashram. End your day by attending the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti on the banks of the holy river.
After a morning pick-up from Haridwar (station or your provided address), begin your 7-hour journey to Guptkashi (210 km), a sacred town nestled in the Mandakini Valley. On arrival, check in to your hotel and spend the evening exploring this spiritually rich town.
Known as “Hidden Benares,” Guptkashi holds deep mythological significance. It is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva hid from the Pandavas before appearing in Kedarnath. Even today, Kedarnath’s priests reside here during winters, and the deity’s idol passes through Guptkashi en route to Ukhimath.
Enjoy the pleasant weather, savor a peaceful evening, and rest overnight at your hotel in Guptkashi.
After an early breakfast, check out from your hotel and drive to Sonprayag. From here, proceed to Gaurikund by local jeep and begin your 20 km trek to Kedarnath. You may hire a pony or Doli (at your own cost) for a more comfortable journey.
As you trek alongside the Mandakini River, soak in the divine chants of "Jai Bholenath" echoing through the mountains. The breathtaking scenery, misty peaks, and snow-clad mountains create a truly spiritual atmosphere.
On arrival in Kedarnath, check in to basic lodge accommodation (on a shared, room-only basis). Meals can be arranged directly at local eateries.
Kedarnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, stands majestically against the Kedarnath range. According to legend, Lord Shiva appeared here as a bull to elude the Pandavas, leaving his hump behind; now worshipped as the main shrine.
Weather Tip: Summers are cool (around 20°C), but nights are chilly. Winters are harsh with heavy snowfall: light woolens are a must, even in summer.
Wake up early before dawn and head to Kedarnath Temple by 4:45 AM for the sacred Abhishek ceremony. Devotees are allowed inside the Garbha Griha, where you can touch the Shiva idol and offer personal prayers; an incredibly divine experience.
After Darshan and Puja, return to your lodge to freshen up, then begin the 20 km trek back to Sonprayag. Your vehicle will be waiting at the Sonprayag parking area to take you back to your hotel or camp in Guptkashi.
Enjoy a hot dinner and a restful overnight stay in Guptkashi, reflecting on the powerful spiritual journey you've just completed.
Begin your day early for the long but beautiful drive to Badrinath (approx. 190 km, 7-8 hrs). The journey winds through serene hill roads, dense forests, and charming mountain villages. Make brief stops en route for lunch and refreshments.
Pass through Joshimath, the gateway to Badrinath and a hub for popular treks and day trips. By evening, arrive in the sacred town of Badrinath, nestled on the banks of the Alaknanda River. Check in to your hotel and relax after the day’s drive, ready for temple darshan the next day.
Begin your day with a sacred bath at Tapt Kund, the natural hot spring near the temple, before heading for the Badrinath Temple darshan, dedicated to Lord Vishnu and one of the revered Char Dhams of India.
After Darshan, explore local attractions like Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa, and Mana Village; the last Indian village near the Indo-China border, rich with mythological significance.
Post breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Rudraprayag, a serene town at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers, and one of the Panch Prayags. Visit the local temple before checking in for an overnight stay at your hotel in Rudraprayag.
After breakfast, begin your 5-6 hour drive to Haridwar (165 km), with a stop in the spiritual town of Rishikesh, nestled along the Ganga and surrounded by the Shivalik hills.
Explore the sacred sites of Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula, and soak in the divine energy of this ancient town, believed to be blessed by Lord Vishnu as "Hrishikesh" after Raibhya Rishi’s penance.
Continue to Haridwar, check in to your hotel, and unwind with memories of a deeply spiritual journey. Overnight stay in Haridwar.
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and begin your drive back to Delhi (approx. 200 km). Carry with you a heart full of blessings and unforgettable memories from your Do Dham Yatra.
You’ll be dropped off at Delhi airport or railway station as per your travel schedule. For a smooth return, it’s recommended to book a late evening departure.
